答案 In my opinion，the ideal unit for Chinese-English translation is discourse．To translate the discourse，one has to start from the translation of words．The natural procedure for Chinese．English translation is from words，compounds，sentences，and paragraphs to the discourse，which is actually an English composition with corresponding meaning and similar function of the source text．This should be the format of my book．To make the book practical，I collected pragmatic examples and translations done by famous translators from authoritative newspapers，magazines and books of recent years and made comments on most of them．The comments come from my deep insight of various disciplines and reveal my reaching style-plain and vivid presentation combining theory with practice．They also demonstrate my pursuit to understand what，how and why in translation．
