Dear Victoria,
    This note is meant to be a token of my apology to you for having not invited you to a party held at my home last Sunday.  It all happened quite by accident.  Before the party, I scribbled a list of names and I clearly remember you were on the list.  Then I asked my sister to call all of you one by one.  Unfortunately, she misread your name and dialled a different friend of mine whose name happened to be spelt quite like yours.  Finally, the same number of guests came and I was so careless that I didn’t realize a mistake had occurred. I wish you, my closest friend, would forgive me.
