This fearsome-looking beast is also known as the Muddy Dragon. As the only crocodile type that has the habit of hibernation, the reptile can hibernate for as long as six months. Its hibernation starts from the end of October, and it does not wake up until the next early April. The ferocious animal has a large appetite and has long been regarded as a fish-eating pest, which has been persecuted almost to the point of extinction. There are only around 150 Chinese alligators left in the wild. Most of them live in captivity.
