答案                     Education as a Lifelong Process
Nowadays you may frequently hear of the terms such as "further education" , "distance education" and "colleges for the elderly" in your daily life.  The varied terms concerning education indicate that the number of people willing to keep on learning is swelling. Why do people, regardless of age, gender and background, come to value constant learning? An analysis of this phenomenon shows that lifelong learning is both a necessity in modern society and an inner need of life.
First, with the rapid development of science and technology, one will fail to keep pace with social changes if he is satisfied with his status quo and refuses to learn more. In the office, paper and pen are giving way to word processor; in the classroom, blackboard and chalk are less used than multimedia equipment. Senior employees and elderly teachers cannot adapt to these changes and work effectively without further learning. In fact, they might be forced out of their field if they could not update their knowledge soon enough. Therefore, fast advancements in technology and society push modern people to go on learning even they have already had a job.
Second, many modern citizens distribute more of their spare time to learn because they start to realize the importance of knowledge. It is knowledge that makes one intellectual; it is knowledge that helps one make wise judgment; it is knowledge that equips one to fight against challenges from the outside world; and it is knowledge that enables people to be more competitive in bitter rivalry for success. Only by continually gaining new knowledge can we shake off stale ideas and expand our thinking. For the above benefits, more and more people view education as a lifelong process and readily involve themselves in various forms of learning.
Last but not least, a number of people keep on learning simply because the activity itself brings enormous fun. Do you remember the joy of solving a difficult equation on your own as a student? Do you remember the pleasure of touching those greatest immortal souls by reading classics? Do you remember the excitement when you finally learned a skill after trying dozens of times? These experiences keep reminding us of how much fun learning has, and it would be a great loss if we did not continue.
Since our society never stops its development and our mind always wants new food, it is natural for modern people to consider education as a lifelong process.
