    The pie chart demonstrates the proportion of different ways to deal with old mobile phones in a survey. As can be clearly seen from the chart, selling old mobile phones and letting them idle at home both constitute the two largest proportions—29. 86%. The third largest proportion is sending them to friends, which is 24.23%. It is followed by throwing the phones away as rubbish, with a proportion of 16.05%.
    The reasons that lead to this phenomenon can be briefly divided into two. One is for lower price. Since the second-hand cell phones are very cheap, most people choose the other three ways to deal with them instead of selling them. The other is for environmental protection. When the batteries and other component parts of cell phones degrade in landfills, heavy metals can pollute the surrounding air, soil and water. Therefore, only a small proportion of people choose to throw them away.
    All in all, which way is to choose depends on whether the used mobile phones can work properly. If they can, it will be better to sell or send them to other people. If they can’t, it will be better to recycle them.
