    As a well-known proverb goes, "A man is known by the company he keeps. " We are supposed to be friends with those who have outstanding qualities and stay away from those who have bad habits or vulgar tastes or no ambitions. It is especially true for the following reasons.
    For one thing, good company is important for the image of a person in society. If a person falls into some bad company, people around him will probably have a low opinion of him because of the bad image created by his bad company. In contrast, one who interacts with people of good qualities is welcome in most circumstances. For another, good company is important for a person’s deeds and behavior as well. Though it is also said that a man is known by his deeds, at times the good deeds are possibly marred by his bad company. Moreover, if a person himself is of good qualities but his associates or friends are of inferior qualities, then a time comes when the bad company starts influencing his good deeds.
    As college students, we should interact with upright and knowledgeable people and spend time with those who can positively influence us. Only in this way can we make progress and perfect ourselves.
