Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s civil rights movement was the first step towards a truly desegregated (废除种族隔离的) America for blacks. Today, racism and discrimination (歧视) have 【S1】______ , but there are still many black people who have the 【S2】______ scars of racism and will never be able to forget the 【S3】______ racism has had on their lives. Much of to day’s racism stems from pride in one’s own race. Many people find it 【S5】______ to put down other ethnic groups in an attempt to strengthen their own. However, the 【S6】______ racist today is usually not even aware of the fact that he is being racist. Racism, 【S7】______ , is simply fear that comes from ignorance. No one will ever know every single person of the African American race, yet people will tend to make 【S8】______ based upon their own personal beliefs and stereotypes (陈规) about blacks. Furthermore, if all men are created 【S9】______ , then why should differences in "race" matter so much? 【S10】______ , our society has not lived up to the standards set by its forefathers. And, if it had not been for people like Dr. King, Maya Angelou and other strong-willed and just people, the country would probably still have two types of rest rooms--one for whites and one for blacks.
