答案                     Seniors’ Home: a Sensible Choice
How to care for the old is always a significant issue in modern society. However, as the society gets more and more competitive, many young people live under so much pressure and get so busy that they can no longer take care of their parents by themselves and have to send them to seniors’ home. Some people think that it is against filial piety. But as far as I am concerned, sending elderly people to seniors’ home is an act beneficial to both the young and the old.
First of all, sending the elderly to seniors’ home is beneficial to the young people. In modern society, work occupies most of one’s lifetime. Generally speaking, a man cannot retire until he reaches 60 and a woman 50, which means that when their parents get old and need to be taken care of, young people are still preoccupied with their career. Additionally, apart from their parents, young people also have to take care of their children, who need a lot of attention and time. It is therefore understandable that young people cannot really spare the time needed to take good care of their parents. Nevertheless, they also cannot leave their parents uncared-for since the aged are still an important concern for them. Hence sending their aged parents to seniors’ home where they can be looked after seems the most sensible choice.
Secondly, being in seniors’ home is also good for the old. Taking care of the old is actually a very complex and delicate job. Some old people may have diseases which cause inconvenience in moving. Some may need to get up several times during one night. Tending old people consequently not only requires affection; it is in fact a highly demanding work that needs professional knowledge, intensive care as well as extra attention. Old people would feel more comfortable in the hands of skilled care workers in seniors’ home than with their children who have little professional knowledge in this regard. Moreover, in seniors’ home, old people can find many companions at the same age to communicate with. They can kill time with more joys instead of being left at home all by themselves when their children go to work.
As a conclusion, sending the elderly to seniors’ home benefits both the old and the young. It is a reasonable choice for young people who don’t have much time to take good care of their parents.
