    A company has announced that it wishes to build a large factory in your community.
    Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this new influence on your community.
    Do you oppose or support the factory? Explain your position.

答案     The new factory could help the community because it will bring more jobs and people to the city. These increases in money and population will help the city grow. However, there may also be some problems. Factories can cause pollution, which would adversely affect the people around it.
    In most cases, the arrival of a new factory can help a community. For example, it can create a number of short-and long-term jobs. There will be a need for workers as the factory is being built. Once the factory is completed, many people can be hired to work in it. This will help the entire community.
    In some cases, though, factories cause more problems than they solve. Depending on what is being produced, factories can release dangerous chemicals into the local environment. These chemicals can have different effects, including the destruction of area wildlife as well as an increase in the number and types of illnesses residents suffer from. There are situations where entire towns had to be closed down because the air, water, and ground had become too polluted. It is true that the local government can keep an eye on the factory and its emissions, but in a small community the government usually does not have the staff and money required to do a thorough job.
    I am against the idea of a factory being built in my community. Although there are some benefits, they are outweighed by the possible problems. It is not one hundred percent certain that the factory will harm the community, but because the problems are so serious - including pollution that could lead to illness and death - it is not worth the risk.
