M: I heard you’re going to Hawaii tomorrow. Is there anything wrong?
W: It’s about my bird. I’ll be gone for a week and she needs to be fed and given water.
M: I know your friend Mark. He is a nice guy and he will stay here and work, right? You can let him take care of the bird for you. That shouldn’t be too much trouble.
W: That’s exactly the point: I tried, but right now is the busiest time of the year for him. I don’t think I can ask him for help at this moment.
M: Oh, I see. But isn’t there a pet shop right near your house? Don’t they let pets stay there when the owner is away?
W: They do, but that costs more money than I want to spend. This trip to Hawaii is really expensive. So I’m really between a rock and a hard place here. I can’t decide what to do.
