   Love and marriage may sometimes go together, yet a person can certainly have one without the other, so it’s a blessing indeed when love and marriage can be merged. As we all know, a happy marriage involves love, responsibility, financial condition, age, and health, among which, romantic love, as far as I am concerned, is the most important condition for marriage. In a life-long marriage journey, a couple may encounter various difficulties and troubles. They may endure the torture of living separately, the anxiety of children’s being ill, the sorrow of losing parents. Romantic love is the greatest power for a couple to conquer those difficulties in their life together; even in trouble, marriage with romantic love can go on peacefully and smoothly. Nevertheless, without romantic love, these difficulties are most likely to end in divorce, which creates many social problems. So it is romantic love that assures so many happy marriages. In feudal society, many people suffered from arranged marriages because love was never an element for consideration in marriages at that time.
   Marriages based on romantic love tend to create a happy and harmonious atmosphere in the family, which is good for the development of children. The cultivation of children demands a couple’s commitment and devotion to the family. Only a couple based on romantic love can do that without complaint. What’s more, romantic love can lead to the healthy psychological development of the couple, which will also balance the development of the children. So marriages based on romantic love will bring forth well-balanced children.
   Also, a happy marriage helps one to achieve more in one’s career. A marriage based on romantic love will act as a great impetus to push one’s career. It is hard to say that unmarried or divorced people will fail in their eareer, yet most of those who got somewhere in career are guaranteed by a happy marriage. When they have trouble in work, they may seek comfort and encouragement from their partner, which may help them tide over the trouble and get recovered. On the other hand, those who are not happy about marriage will fall into the bad habit of drinking or even involve themselves in extra-marital relations. This will do harm to their work or health.
   All in all, marriage is the result and extension of love. Therefore, romantic love is the most important condition for marriage. Only a marriage based on love can make you relish the happiness of a family, the enjoyment of the success and the meaning of life.
