     Several years ago, people were often surprised when they heard that a college student was doing a part-time job. Nowadays, temporary jobs are being more and more popular among college students. Some of them serve as tutors, some as tour guides, some as servants in restaurants, and others even as cleaners. It is necessary for them to do part-time jobs.
     First, most students lack social experience. While working, they learn how to deal with different kinds of people and situation. They can broaden their vision and gain some experience that they can’t get from books. Second, temporary jobs can also help the students improve their academic studies. For example, if one works as a tutor, he ought to understand everything in the text he is reading, otherwise he may not be able to answer the student’s questions. Third, by doing temporary jobs, they can earn some money to go on with their study. In this sense they learn to be independent and may feel rather ashamed of receiving money from home.
     To sum up, doing part-time jobs help students be qualified for various demands of the society. When people of today hear that a student is doing a temporary job, they no longer think he must be short of money, but look at him with approval.
