    Climate change, global warming, sand storms and deforestation are common environmental problems looming large over mankind. To solve these environmental threats, some people suggest that we should increase the fuel price. I, however, do not agree with this so-called "one-size-fits-all" solution.
    First of all, environmental problems are caused by multiple factors, some of which could not be controlled by simply increasing the fuel price. For example, the problem of sand storms is resulted from deforestation, with little to do with fuel consumption. No matter how high the fuel price will be, those loggers are still devoted to felling trees. In this case, a carefully laid-out regulation to stipulate a monthly quota of trees to be felled down is a way more effective than increasing the fuel price. Secondly, pushing up the fuel price might lead to a vicious competition for resources, which ultimately hurt the environment. If the fuel price is very high and the petrol business is very lucrative, many enterprises will compete for the resources to make fuel. This will lead to the over exploitation of fossil fuels and exhaust the limited reserve.
    In conclusion, raising the petrol price is not a silver bullet for all environmental problems. We need more specific and tailored-made solutions for various environmental issues.
