Outstanding grades, a perfect personal essay, excellence on the field or stage—these are some of the reasons students are awarded scholarships for college. Do you think they are good indicators of future success, as students and then as contributors in one’s chosen field? How would you award scholarships?
Write an essay of no less than 160 words to express your opinion on the answer sheet.

Scholarships are important incentives for universities to encourage students to get better performances in each academic year. Usually, a scholarship will not be given to a student without an excellent transcript, a pleasing paperwork, a top level award or a brilliant research report in the study field. I strongly believe that these are all essential points for evaluating one’s achievement in universities, as well as qualifications for future employment. But, these are not the crucial ones.
Indeed, a profound mastery in one’s study field is necessary. But I think the way of coping with difficulties, the attitude towards different people in tough situations, and moral qualities play a more important part in defining one’s success.
Therefore, if I were a member in school faculties, I would first suggest taking into consideration these factors and proportionating them, with moral quality accounting for a larger proportion, followed by student assessment. Faculties can employ methods of questionnaire, face-to-face interview and team assignment to mark candidates’ performances, just like what some famous companies do to recruit employees. This can not only help to select the one most suited to be scholarship recipient , but also be a channel to let students get to know future job-hunting.
