      ③Some experts hold that these programs are helpful in preserving local languages，which are an indispensible part and a precious legacy of Chinese culture and human civilization．④On the contrary．some authorities argue that the thriving dialectal programs go against our national policy to promote Mandarin．They stress，furthermore, that these programs will exert a negative influence on students’ use of Mandarin．
      ⑤Personally speaking, I do like some of these programs. For one thing, news is offered in an entertaining way. Thus, viewers gain both information and pleasure. and they feel relieved from everyday pressure. For another. the speaking of a certain dialect brings the appealed audience a sense of closeness, not to mention the lire-centered content of these programs. ⑥To sum up, I see no threat they pose against Mandarin and no reason that they should he banned.
