答案                         Is Jack of all Trades Good or Not
    A well-known proverb goes like this, "Jack of all trades and master of none". The saying is frequently used in reference to a person who possesses many skills but is not necessarily outstanding in any of them. In my eyes, there are both pros and cons of being such generalists.
    It is not fair to deny the advantages of being a generalist. For one thing, generalists are capable of adapting to today’s fast-changing society, while specialists may find it hard to survive under the same circumstances. For another, employees with lots of skills are favored and needed by enterprises of all sizes. A case in point is the profession of interpretation, which requires practitioners to have a wide range of skills to cope with difficult and stressful situations.
    However, problems do exist if one tries to equip himself with multiple skills. First, it is demanding and time-consuming to excel in diverse domains so that few can carry it through. What’s more, most generalists usually stop before exploring deeper and further in a special field. In conclusion, the best policy for us is to know the weaknesses of a generalist and meanwhile accentuate his strengths.
