   Though the development of information technology has made the world smaller, I think that people are becoming more and more isolated from each other.
   There are three reasons for this. First, due to fierce competition, modern people have to work hard in order to keep up with the pace of city life, so that they have less time to communicate with each other. Everybody is busy all the time. Moreover, living in apartment in different blocks, people are far away from each other. It is not convenient for them to meet each other freely. Finally, the popular use of telephones and overwhelming dependency on the internet prevent modern people from seeing and visiting each other quite often. Nowadays, instead of writing letters and sending postcards, people simply send an e-mail or make a phone call to send good wishes in a few minutes. In some sense, people are becoming mechanical.
   In order to solve the problem, people need to be fully aware of the fact that the modern ways of communication cannot fully take the place of the traditional ones. Sending e-mails cannot have the same effect as writing letters or face-to-face talk. Although we live in a convenient and busy world, we should not forget that traditional greeting way is still the warmest.
