I said, "One day I’m going to have a band, and you’re going to sing in it." And she said, "Yeah, that’ll be the day."
    When I was in Boston around 1935, I came down to New York and I【B6】______ her. She couldn’t believe it. A【B7】______ girl in a white band? I said, "Come on, we’re gonna try it." We went down south, and on the way she was afraid. She said, "What am I gonna do?" I said, "We’re gonna try it. I’m scared, too." So we played in some little dance hall and some【B8】______ park, and after her first couple of songs, they accepted her immediately.【B9】______. He didn’t mean it badly.
