答案             Should We Trace and Reclaim Cultural Relics Lost Overseas?
The loss of China’s cultural relics is a serious problem and also a historical issue. Some people now firmly support tracing and reclaiming cultural relics lost overseas. In terms of the significance or value, they insist, the lost relics are historically, scientifically and artistically important. Besides, it is just natural that the owner gets back what belongs to him.
Others, however, oppose the recovery. Since many lost cultural relics are put up for auction, it is the traffickers, speculators and overseas auction houses that benefit most from the reclaiming. Worse still, the huge profit from cultural relics would stir up more smuggling and illegal digging for cultural relics. In a way, tracing and reclaiming the lost cultural relics would set up a vicious circle.
Personally speaking, I think we should maintain a sensible attitude when it comes to reclaiming cultural relics lost overseas. If our cultural relics are under high-level preservation and available to the whole mankind to the greatest extent, there is no need to reclaim them. After all, just as the international heritage concept advocates, cultural relics belong to all humanity.
