The recession is taking a serious toll on American retail, but e-commerce could emerge as a winner.
According to a new report by Forrester Research, e-commerce sales (beyond travel) are likely to【C1】______11%, to $156 billion, in 2011. That【C2】______a slowdown from 13% growth last year and 18% in 2009. The major factor【C3】______to the pace shift is, of course,【C4】______consumer confidence.
But e-commerce’s slowed pace is still far better than the National Retail Federation’s forecasted 0.5% drop in【C5】______retail sales this year.
That means e-commerce is stealing market shares from【C6】______retail — and fast. 【C7】______Forrester’s estimates, in 2010 e-commerce【C8】______for 5% of all retail sales. In 2012, Forrester thinks e-commerce could have an 8% share.

E-commerce is also somewhat protected because online shoppers【C12】______to be wealthier: about half of all online shopping is done by households that earn more than $75,000 per year, even though they’re just about a third of all households with Internet【C13】______.
【C14】______not all Internet companies are set to benefit【C15】______. Last month, e-commerce giant eBay【C16】______its first-ever quarterly revenue decline, 【C17】______Amazon reported a sales surge of 18%.
Smaller players are particularly【C18】______risk. "There are some pretty vicious (恶意的) wars as companies go online to get market shares," says Mulpuru. "The【C19】______I have is that we could go back down the spiral (螺旋) of death from 2001 and 2003, when companies would under-price themselves【C20】______thinking about profitability (盈利)." [br] 【C7】

B、As
C、About
D、By
答案
D
解析
惯用衔接题。由下句的In 2012,Forrester thinks ecommerce could…8%…(Forrester认为2012年电子零售可能将占8%)可知,本句说的是Forrester对2010年电子零售在零售总额中份额的估计。“根据……的估计”用by,故答案为[D]by。
