    Many people consider it an effective means to protect the safety and property of civilians. With the video cameras around, people would think twice before committing a crime. Also, they can help in providing evidence for investigations and trials. However, some people are opposed to the idea of installing video cameras in public places, which they think will inevitably invade their privacy. Some even say they are troubled by the feeling that they are closely monitored by someone else.
    Personally, I think video cameras in public places are doing us more good than harm. There’s no denying that they have made great contributions in preventing and detecting crimes. Still, before installing a video camera, people should ensure that no one’s privacy will be violated.
