答案    I’d like to tall about Emma by Jane Austen. I first read it several years ago at secondary school. The heroine, Emma Woodhouse, is handsome, clever, and rich. She is the 21-year-old daughter of a landowner. The Woodhouse family the centre of social life in the area and is at the top of its social ladder. Emma has grown up without a mother and she is a little spoiled. Having too little to do to keep out of trouble, Emma’s hobby is matchmaking. Unfortunately, she has little insight into human feelings. She plays with the love lives of the people around her and only one man—I can’t remember his name—stands up to her and tells her what he thinks of her behaviour. Because of him, Emma begins to recognise her mistakes and faults. It is an excellent novel, full of interesting characters and is very enlightening on the subject of how social relationships worked when Austen was writing. I have read other books by her, but this one is my favourite.
