问题     In this question, you will listen to a conversation. Then you will be asked to talk about the information in the conversation and give your opinion about the ideas presented. After the question, you will have 20 seconds to prepare your response and 60 seconds to speak. Listen to a student and a professor discussing a failing grade.

    Question
    The professor and the student talk about two possible solutions to the student’s problem. Describe the problem and then state which of the two solutions you prefer and explain why.
S Hi, sir. Do you have a minute?
P Of course. You’re here to discuss your marks, I presume.
S Is it that obvious? Yes, well ... I’m probably your only failing student.
P No, you’re not alone in that category, but I am a bit concerned because you have a reputation in the department as a good student.
S Yeah, I know. To tell you the truth, I just don’t have the time to do well in all of my classes, so I chose to get good marks in the others and let this one slide. I need to at least pass though. Do I have any options?
P Well, the obvious way is to simply study harder and come to class on time.
S Yeah, I’m really sorry about the whole lateness thing. I come here straight from work, and if I happen to miss the 12:30 bus, I’m guaranteed to be late. Actually, it’s my work schedule that’s preventing me from putting in the hours to do well in your class. It’s really a shame because I like the subject matter, but I wouldn’t have much time to sleep otherwise.
P That’s unfortunate all right. Well, I am giving a tutorial on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. If you can find the time to come, you’ll have a good chance of passing the next test. If that happens, you would probably pass the course ...
S This Wednesday? Um ... I have work until 5:00 p.m., so normally wouldn’t be able to get here until 6:00 p.m. But then I’d miss the whole tutorial, huh? I’d have to rearrange my shift, but I really need the money ...

    针对上面的问题，除了选择参加个别辅导外，还可以选择在平时努力学习，上课时间不迟到的解决方法。按时上课、认真听课，这种方法可以提高修完学分的概率，而且还不影响学习时间和睡眠时间，找其他工作的可能性也比较大。
