Listen to part of a conversation between two students.
W: How are you, Jim?
M: Busy with school, and looking for a part-time job. I’ve been offered two jobs, and the hard part is deciding which one to take.
W: Oh, really? What sort of jobs?
M: One is a dinner waiter in a restaurant. I’d have to work until late at night, but I’d make good money in tips. The other is a night clerk in the physics lab, here on campus. It doesn’t pay much, but it would be quiet, and I could study at the desk.
W: That’s a difficult choice. You have to decide what’s more important to you—money or time to study. You need to think about how the job would affect your studies. Didn’t you tell me that you were having trouble in some of your classes?
M: Yeah ... well, not really, but I should spend more time studying.
W: You need to think about how much stress the job would cause, I mean, how it might affect your health. Would you get enough sleep?
M: I don’t know.
W: Well, it’s a difficult choice. You have to decide what your priority is.
