   我国是世界上少有的几个资源总量大、配套程度较高的矿产资源大国之一。迄今为止，我国已发现矿产171种，有探明储量的矿产158种。矿产地约18000处，其中，大中型矿产地7000余处。我国的矿产资源总量约占世界的12％，居世界第3位，但人均占有量仅为世界人均占有量的58％，居世界第53位。目前，我国92％以上的一次能源、80％的工业原材料、70％以上的农业生产资料以及30％以上的生活用水来自于矿产资源。
   矿产资源是人类生存和社会发展的重要物质基础，全面建设小康社会必须有足够的矿产资源保障。我们必须坚持以人为本，贯彻全面、协调、可持续的科学发展观，大力发展矿产资源勘探事业。

   China is one of the few big countries boasting large quantities of resources and almost all types of mineral resources in the world. So far, 171 types of minerals have been discovered, and 158 of them with proved reserves. There are about 18,000 orefields, including over 7,000 large and medium-sized ones. China’s total amount of mineral resources accounts for about 12 percent of the world’s total and ranks third in the world.    Mineral resources are an important material foundation for human subsistence and social development. They must be adequately guaranteed for building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. We must persist in putting the human factor above everything else, follow the scientific outlook on comprehensive, balanced and sustainable development, and do everything possible to prospect more mineral resources.
