   Nowadays, dining out is rather expensive in China, especially in large restaurants; however, too many people tend to go there and order more food than they can eat to show their generosity or hospitality. Therefore, plenty of good food goes into the trash. Wasting food has become a social problem.
   One problem is how to stop the free feasting. Much routine office work has to be discussed in a banquet now, and restaurants have become important places to make deals. "There is no free lunch", and more often than not, the state has to pay the bill in one way or another. As a result, nobody cares how much it costs and how much food they waste. If such a situation is tolerated, it will spread like a wild fire and lead to corruption.
   Another problem is lo educate those people who compete with each other in wasting food for the purpose of publicly flaunting their riches. These people usually make money too easily, using the law loopholes. For them, money is "easy come and easy go". They should be aware of their vulgar tastes and social responsibilities.
   Food production is always of prime importance in China. As we all know, China is a developing country with 1.2 billion people to feed. Moreover, there are still millions of hungry children. It is sinful to waste food.
   Saving is forever a good virtue. Simple living and hard work is the tradition of the Chinese nation and it is also the secret of success for many great people in the world. Since our living standards are improving, we may eat out and taste all kinds of delicious foods we like at anytime, but it is considered good manners not to waste food. It is a good idea to bring the unfinished food home with doggie bags.
