答案                      Sometimes Compromise Is Necessary
   To compromise and not to compromise both require courage and they may both lead to great discoveries or results. But the philosophy of life can never be that easy. While we are all likely to make great effort in our perseverance and not to compromise, we tend to ignore the fact that under certain circumstances, we need to make compromise with both other people and ourselves, in order to keep a balanced life and to reach our goals.
   To compromise with other people calls for a higher level of state of mind. As we know, the world itself is composed of all kinds of relationships: close and far, direct and indirect, relatives and lovers, friends and rivalries. In this huge, complicated net of relationships, compromise is the main theme of every one of them: compromise between parents and children can help to create an equal, harmonious family environment, so that the generation gap can be bridged, and both the parental guide and children’s healthy growth can be achieved; compromise  between couples brings the two hearts closer, and it may even rescue a relationship from the verge of breaking up; compromise between friends reduces the possibility of trivial conflicts and strengthens the ties of friendship by establishing mutual tolerance; while compromise between  rivalries allows both sides to solve the problems through peaceful negotiations instead of fierce, or even destructive confrontations.
   But the compromise with ourselves sounds somewhat strange to some people. If the compromise with other people is a kind of temperament, then compromise with ourselves focuses more on a state of mind--a mind of freedom, and liberation. To give ourselves more freedom and liberation can make our life more effective. Reshuffling priorities is compromise: sometimes we do have to change the degrees of importance of various tasks and learn to give up certain tasks in order to accomplish more important things. Even great minds are capable of compromise by realizing and accepting their limitations, knowing what to do and what not to do. Why not we common folks?
