答案                 Is It Advisable to Look for Friends Online?
With the increasingly fast development of the modern society, the Internet has become an indispensable part of our daily life. One thing we can do with it is to make friends. Though many people may consider it unsafe to look for friends online, I believe its advantages far outweigh its disadvantages. There are two reasons why it gets my vote.
First, Net pals can enrich our knowledge and understanding of the world we are living in. In our daily life, we have little chance to meet people and know different things, and our ability to make friends and explore the society is also constrained for one reason or another. Fortunately, by making friends online, we can get to know more people and learn about things that may be impossible for us to meet in real life. Especially for those who have stayed in the ivory tower for years, it is one of the most effective ways for them to get to know the real world in advance, making preparations for their stepping into the society and beginning to meet all kinds of people in their work and life.
Second, sometimes it is easier to find friends online than in real life. As the social competition is becoming more and more intense, interpersonal relationship is also becoming increasingly hard to deal with, to say nothing of the chance of talking heart to heart with people around such as a schoolmate or colleague. In this case, making friends online is not a bad way out. Online friends do not have to talk face to face, so they will not feel embarrassed or uneasy to share sadness with each other as well as happiness; online friends usually do not have conflict of interests, so they feel safe and reassuring to directly pour out problems to and receive sincere suggestions from each other. As the old saying goes, a friend in need is a friend indeed. Therefore, I don’t consider it necessary to define specifically whether the friend is made in the real life or online, as long as we can find a true one.
From the above analysis, we can conclude that the Internet is quite a positive means to find pals if we can keep our head and stay away from its unhealthy effects. In other words, all depend on human efforts. Therefore, it would be a great pity if we rejected the alternative way of making friends only because of the possible risks it involves.
