答案                           My View on Urbanization
     The trend of urbanization is going on vigorously in many places. It’s a natural result of modem industrialization and a marked indication of modem civilization. Newly-emerging towns and cities have sprang up, where industry and commerce are thriving in prosperity along with scientific, cultural advances.
     What needs to be pointed out is that urbanization, like a coin, has the other side. It has given rise to many social problems such as the greater density of inhabitants, the crowded traffic, the environmental pollution, the contagion of diseases, etc. Besides, labor disputes and the contradiction between man as a whole and his environ- ment is growing sharper and more intense.
     To maintain the security and stability of the urban life, an overall program for the development of the city is necessary. The scope of the city must be controlled; its land must be utilized in a rational way; the administrative and managerial bodies must be set up and policies carried out strictly. Enough attention must be paid to the overall arrangement of roads, bridges, squares and lawns, and to the deliberate layout of hospitals, schools, sports and recreational centers, and public services including gas, electricity, telecommunication, fire protection and other organizations for social security.
     In a word, urbanization is an objective trend for the establishment of a modem society, but to avoid its possible side effects, priority should be given to the ecological system of the city through constant investigations and improvements.
