问题 Which is NOT correct about "Venus"? [br]
A starting point for all astronomy students should be the great star "Venus". Of course we know it is not a star at all but the second planet from the Sun and the sixth largest. Venus is usually visible with the naked eye. Sometimes referred to as the "morning star" or the "evening star", it is by far the brightest "star" in the sky. It is the brightest object in the sky except for the Sun and the Moon, Anyway, what I want to talk about is what Venus looks like from ground level. Venus is sometimes regarded as Earth’s sister planet. Both have few craters indicating very young surfaces. Their densities and chemical compositions are similar. There are several layers of clouds, many kilometers thick, composed of sulfuric acid. Those clouds make it totally impossible to see what the surface is like. How about winds? It might surprise you that they are not that much different than earth’s, in fact, perhaps even slower. There are strong winds at the cloud tops—up to 350 kilometer per hour, hut winds at the surface arc very slow, no more than a few kilometers per hour. Venus probably once had large amounts of water like the Earth but it all boiled away so now it’s quite dry. Earth would have suffered the same fate had it been just a little closer to the Sun.

选项 A、Sulfur.
B、Acid.
C、Vapor.
D、Sulfuric acid.

答案 D

解析 情景事实题。短文中多处提到金星同地球有很多相似的地方。“There are several layers of clouds, many kilometers thick, composed of sulfuric acid.”因此选项D为正确答案。
