(24)The Internet company Google has agreed to pay $22.5m to settle allegation that(23)it broke its privacy pledge to customers using the Safari web browser. It’s the biggest fine the US Federal Trade Commission has ever imposed. The Federal Trade Commission launched its investigation after it emerged that Google despite earlier pledges had overridden the safeguards on its Safari web browser allowing advertisements to be shown to users and outside parties to monitor users’ activities without their consent.
