YES
In the past decades, the development of new technology promotes the increasing need of students and other customers, electronic dictionaries are becoming more and more popular.
Electronic dictionaries are extremely portable and light, and numerous words and messages are stored in a small gadget less than 100 grams. If a paper dictionary contains the same messages, it will be much larger and heavier.
Electronic dictionaries work very fast. When we want to check the words, we can type in the words, and then the words can be found in no more than three seconds, how convenient it is!
Giving the advantages, electronic dictionaries will surely replace printed ones.
NO
In spite of the popularity of electronic dictionaries, many people still prefer the use of printed dictionaries.
A printed dictionary usually costs less than ¥100, while an electronic one may cost ten times the price. For many students, who financially rely on their parents, can hardly afford an expensive electronic dictionary. Therefore, the printed ones are exactly what they need.
Second, holding a thick, heavy dictionary brings the users the pleasure that can’t be replaced by using an electronic one, so they will like to keep using printed dictionaries.

答案
Will Electronic Dictionary Displace Printed Dictionary
Electronic dictionary is widely used and highly valued in this high technology world for its convenience and portability. Some people hold that the electronic dictionary will take the place of the printed one because the former is more portable and works faster. However, other people believe printed dictionary is much cheaper and brings users special pleasure. In my opinion, printed dictionary will not be displaced by e-dictionary.
Firstly, the constant use of such an electronic device may cause many side effects. For instance, there are not enough explanations, patterns, or examples to illustrate the correct usage of a word. In addition, due to the limitation of the electronic screen, users have to press "page down" many times to browse all the explanations and examples of the word, which cause great inconvenience for users. Comparatively speaking, printed dictionary is more legible and straightforward. Secondly, electronic dictionary will cause heavy pollution to the environment in the manufacturing process. What’s more, if disposed improperly at the end of its life, electronic dictionary may affect human and environmental health because many of these products contain toxic substances such as lead, mercury and cadmium. Instead, printed dictionary made of paper can be recycled easily and thus it’s more environmental friendly.
Considering the legibility and less pollution of the printed dictionary, we can safely arrive at the conclusion that printed dictionary is still needed and will not be replaced by electronic dictionary.
