   I write to thank you warmly for your kind invitation to attend the Reception. Unfortunately, the date of the party coincides with the date of my business trip to Beijing. Therefore, I’m afraid I am unable to be present.
   I hope that you will excuse me on this occasion and I trust that it will be acceptable to you if my colleague, Mr. Wang, attends it instead of me. Unless I hear from you to the contrary I shall take it that you have agreed to it.
   I do hope, however, to be able to be present on some future occasion.
