I’d like to turn our attention to a petition involving an important issue that affects a lot of us here. Univex Systems has created a petition in support of the roadway improvements that Mayor Simmons has recently proposed for the Olivia Street corridor —the road that ninety-five percent of us take to get here every day. The roadwork that’s currently under debate will consist of adding additional lanes from Route sixteen-oh-four to Highway eighty-one, and will add left- and right-turn lanes at each major and minor intersection along Olivia Street between Route sixteen-oh-four and Highway eighty-one. Finally, they’ll also add two bus stops and a bike path. Most of you will probably agree that these are much needed improvements and I hope you will sign the petition. It will be located on top of the file cabinet behind Jerry Nunez’s desk in the Operations Building on the first floor. It will be available Tuesday, September fifth through Friday, September fifteenth.
