答案                  Is university expansion a good thing?
    In the past decades, universities in China have being increased the enrollment. Some people see it as a good thing, for the expansion means more people will have access to the higher education, then the quality of the whole nation will also improve as a result. What’ s more the expansion will relieve the labor market pressure, because the prospective employees enter the market year by year, not all at a time. But other people think the expansion a bad thing. They say that more enrollments means less resources for each student, also the students’ average quality will not be as high as in the past.
    In my opinion, the expansion is a bad thing. First, the expansion needs money. We know that the budget government makes for universities are not enough to cover their expense, then where do universities get the money they need? They have to increase the tuition fees, thus more students from the poor families will have no access to the higher education, which will be a great loss to society.
    Secondly, the education resources are fixed, with the students number increased, the average resources for each student will reduce, thus the students development will not be as good as in the past.
    Thirdly, the expansion will heavy the labor market’ s burden rather than relieve it. Although the enrollment to universities can reduce the pressure for markets to absorb the high school students, in the long run it will put more pressure on the markets to accept the labor with higher diploma.
Although the expansion has positive effects, its downside effect far overweigh its positive ones, thus I think the expansion is not a good thing.
