Having famous actors in a film is not necessary, but it certainly helps because people know that a top actor is unlikely to associate himself or herself with a poor quality film. I think that another element of a good film is that the music intensifies the mood.
I think a good actor or actress needs to be able to play a variety of different roles rather than just be good at one type. They also need to be able to convey feelings with their body language and facial expressions. A good actor or actress is also able to help supporting actors or actresses contribute to the film rather than making the film all about one person.
