Question: The speaking discusses two possible solutions to the woman’s problem. Describe the problem and the two solutions. Then state which of the two solutions you prefer and explain why.
M: Hey, what’s up? You look worried!
W: Oh, I worry a lot! I want to take the economics class taught by Dr. Wilson. He is very famous in the field of economics.
M: Wow, sounds like a wonderful opportunity. You shouldn’t miss it!
W: The problem is that I have already selected four required courses to graduate and this gives me a full load. I am afraid that I won’t be able to handle an additional course.
M: Why don’t you audit the economics course? Then you don’t have to worry about tests and papers.
W: I am afraid that I won’t learn much in this way. Sometimes, tests and papers encourage students to learn more.
M: You could wave one required course and take it in summer.
W: That would be a good idea if I didn’t have to do the summer job: unfortunately I have to work. It is a good idea though, I will think about it. Thank you very much.

Personally speaking, I think the woman should take the first solution and here are my reasons. First, she has to work in summer. So taking a class while working will consume her a lot of energy and make her exhausted. I don’t think she will be able to manage her time if she chooses to do both at the same time. On the other hand, if she audits the economics class, she will be taught by her favorite professor, which can encourage her to learn more. Most importantly, she won’t need to worry about the tests and papers.
Personally speaking, I prefer the second solution. First, the girl won’t take the class seriously and learn well if without tests and papers. Also, many students in the U.S. find part-time jobs and financially support their tuition and living expenses during college. Taking classes while working is never a big deal. This is how she will learn to manage her time and work under pressure.
