问题     Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A person should never make an important decision alone. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Write an essay of about 400 words. You should supply an appropriate title for your essay.
    In the first part of your essay you should state clearly your main argument, and in the second part you should support your argument with appropriate details. In the last part you should bring what you have written to a natural conclusion or make a summary.

    Throughout life we have to make decisions, big and small. There are two different ways to approach making important decisions. Some people think that a person should make an important decision alone. In contrast, others think that the more important the decision is, the more consultation the person should receive. I agree with the latter opinion because I might learn something new and it is possible to see the situation more clearly with the objective opinions of others.
    First of all, by consulting with others you may hear new ideas that you did not think of yourself. In most cases, the bigger and more important a decision is, the more options there are. For example, one of my friends is a recent university graduate and is looking for a job to fit his qualifications. In this case, it is a good idea to talk to a variety of people who have more experience in the working world. By talking to people in the same or related fields, my friend will have ideas of what to expect and what to look for. Someone with more work experience may advise him not to focus only on money, but on what will benefit him most as far as future advancement is concerned. Through the advice of people with experience, he might be able to avoid some of the difficulties that come from choosing the wrong job.
    Furthermore, hearing the objective opinions of other people can help you to see a situation more clearly. When people make an important decision on their own, they often make mistakes because they are too close to the situation and have preconceived ideas and feelings. For instance, if a woman takes the time to talk to others about the prospective groom, she may learn some things that would change her mind. Perhaps the woman’s friends can see some major flaws in the man’s personality that could cause her a lot of grief, such as a drinking problem or a violent temper. By hearing the opinions of others, she can make a better choice.
    In conclusion, people tend to think that they can make the best decisions for themselves, but in reality it is sometimes best to get advice from others. This is because maybe you can learn something that you did not think of on your own and other people can give you objective opinions because they are able to see your situation more clearly. By taking the advice of others, you can make better choices in relation to important decisions.
