That’s good. Everything is almost ready. But did you find that you missed one important thing in your list? The refrigerators. They are for keeping our fresh vegetables and poultry. Besides, two dishwashers are obviously not enough though we do have some kitchen help. I hope we can get these two things ready before Friday. Oh, yes, I have already told the purchasing department to double check with our suppliers and make sure we have fresh seafood every day. Now, I am going to the department responsible for the promotion to see how they have been doing. They are always a kind of slow, but I’ll come back to check again on Friday. Hopefully we can have a good start.
Mr. Legan, I think you have really done a good job. This is so big and spacious. Things sold here are over a thousand items, which range from furniture to kitchenware and food. I think we have enough cashiers to work at registers on two shifts. But we don’t have enough people who can help us show customers around and put things on the shelves. These people should be able to understand a little bit of English and be hard-working. By the way, we might rent part of our shelves out to some big companies like P&G or Kellogg’s. Then we can have some stable suppliers. What do you think?
Hay, Barbara, I’m just calling to tell you that we have already found a good place for our business. It is big enough to hold 3-4 cars or trucks at the same time. It is close to downtown. There are two coffee shops and one snack bar nearby so our customers can just go in and take a rest while waiting. I have also talked with a mechanic and he said he would think about our offer. But we have another big problem. Although the bank has approved our application we still don’t have enough to buy the whole business. We’ll have to think of some other ways. I hope we can start our business next month.
Right, Mr. Plunkett, we have agreed on many things, the operation system, sharing of profits and even our responsibilities. Now we have to talk about it in more details. Since this is not a small business, we need to make sure that everything should run smoothly. The training of housekeepers should be put on the top of the list and if I am correct, it’s going to start the day after tomorrow, But now it seems hard for us to find someone who is good at communicating with others and organizing big activities. This person should also be able to deal with complaints of our customers and their requirements. This is a very important part for our business.
Well, to start a business like tiffs, we have to understand in the first place whether what we make, that is our products, have appeal to the global market, and in the second place how we go about selling it. We must look at it with the same seriousness as we look at the home market. Then we’ll need to make sure we’ve got the fight price, and the fight packaging, and we’ll have to find distribution channels to ensure that our goods go to the right people. Then there is the question of language, but I don’t think this is such an insuperable obstacle as some people seem to think.
