I don’t mind working long hours and having only a few holidays, but I would like a reasonable wage, I’m not asking for a big increase but I do think we ought to be given enough to live on. In the present situation, I can hardly afford to support my family.
Yes, my job is fine, and my company is going to promote me and give me a good job in their branch office about a hundred miles or so from where we live. I don’t know whether to sell my house and take my family with me or not. The trouble is that there’s no formal agreement. I haven’t  signed anything, and I’ve got nothing in writing. The company could even dismiss me tomorrow if they wanted.
