You will hear a PA informing an employee how to write an annual report.

Now listen, and fill in the spaces.

Woman: Hello, this is Alyson in Head Office.
Man: Good morning.
Woman: Your report writing is not as good as expected. I have not handed in yet. You have to correct it tonight. There should be five sections: financial summary: letter to shareholders: company operations and significant developments: financial statement and tables: and information about officers and directors.
Man: Oh, right, I have not written it before. Thank you for your direction.
Woman: That’s all right. Being more careful is necessary. The financial summary is a narrative part that generally covers revenue, net income and earnings per share data. Typically it includes three years’ worth of data. You should ask Emily in Marketing for the data.
Man: Thanks a lot.
Woman: As for the letter to shareholders, I will e-mail our CEO’s formal statement about company performance to you later. It is supposed to be concise, but I believe it seems a bit lengthy for others.
Man: I may shorten a little for the edition.
Woman: Before handing it to me, you need to ask company attorneys and accountants to review the document to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Man: Well, then, it may take some time before your office.
Woman: It will not take long.
Man: What else?
Woman: The financial statement consists largely of tables showing revenue, expenses and earnings data in detail. This is the heart of the report, though it usually appears at the rear of the publication. Make it more professional in style. A little hard to adjust.
Man: Thanks for looking at it. It’s very helpful.[pause]
