Man: Hello, is Elizabeth available?
Woman: She’s in a meeting. Can I take a message?
Man: Please. It’s Jack Sparrow, Director of Research Development. Elizabeth usually makes the contracts for our outsourced scientists from India. We’ve also decided to take on some research assistants and I’d like to check details before I finalize their contracts.
Woman: Yes.
Man: Last time Elizabeth Okayed some contracts, including a probationary period of three months.
Some employees hadn’t been qualified for long. I’d like to do the same this time. My question is, whether three months is the maximum time allowed.
Woman: Aha.
Man: My other question is about research assistants’ salary. I’m going to pay by the hour, and also give annual bonuses. Also, could she advise on whether we’re obliged to offer holiday pay, and whether that can be calculated into hourly rate?
Woman: Anything else you’d like to ask her?
Man: Yes. Some animal welfare groups protested in our lab lately and brought huge damage to the company’s public image. Could we take legal action against them?
Woman: I’ve got that. Mr. Sparrow.
