1. TOPIC
   Good management can help the organization achieve its desired results. This is particularly true of the management of an organization full of scientists and research workers. What is your idea about a good management or a good manager of such a group of people?

答案     Good management can help an organization achieve its desired results. But for any organization, managing human resources is never an easy job. To manage well a group of scientists and research workers could be even more challenging.
   First, since research staff are all learned and highly opinionated individuals with independent thinking, the manager should never adopt simple and rather straightforward approaches that may otherwise be effective for other people. The manager himself should be highly educated, knowing what the researchers are doing, thinking and talking about, and then find appropriate ways to settle the differences. He also needs to have strong coordination competence in dealing with these independent people in fulfilling a collective task.
   Secondly, the manager should be aware that his scientific staff are decent people, sensitive to the way of treatment. Therefore, he must show his sincerity whenever talking with them about anything serious.
   Thirdly, scientists are assets wherever they are and some of them may even be the backbones or pioneers in certain fields of research. If they are not satisfied whit the management, work environment or living conditions provided for them, they may choose to leave the organization and find jobs elsewhere. This would definitely be a great loss to the organization. Therefore, a good manager should also take good care of these scientific staff, trying to solve their problems and improve their working and living conditions.
   To make it short, a good manager of a research institution must do his utmost to provide the best possible environment for research.
