    A lot of people, especially the young, are crazy about stars. They wish to see their heroes at all costs. Do you think these people are foolish or understandable? Justify your opinion.

    Some people say the young people’s worship of celebrity is a kind of childish behavior. They maintain that nobody is perfect so there is no need to worship anybody or consider anyone as an idol. However, I don’t agree with their point of views.
    In my mind, adolescent idol worship is just a natural and developmental thing for human development, particularly in modern times. It serves a variety of psychological functions for young people. Therefore, parents and teachers should be more tolerant of such behaviors and learn how to facilitate psychological development of young people.
    There are some recommendations for parents and teachers. In the first place, they’d better diversify their selection of idols and identify the virtual characteristics from different idols. In the second place, they should guide young people to have substantial appreciation with their idols instead of having superficial appreciation with them. In the third place, parents and teachers can take this opportunity to help young people learn to manage their expenses well and be selective in what they like to pursue. Last but not least, they should develop appropriate curriculum for such endeavors in collaboration with educators, psychologists, and mass media.
    In conclusion, it is the force of human nature that young people tend to worship celebrities, and each one can have his idols. As parents and teachers, their responsibility is to help young people benefit from the constructive idol and become a reasonable fan.
