答案               The Development of English Economy in China
    The term English economy is not a new one. I heard of it in the year of 2001. According to my wife’s younger brother, whose research interest is modem economy in Asia, English economy is a form of economy that takes advantage of people’s enthusiasm for learning English to make profits by offering all kinds of English training programs, such as training programs for CET-4, CET-6, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, PETS and IELTS.
    Why is English economy developing so rapidly in China? In my opinion, many Chinese students think there are very few opportunities for them in their country, so they wish to work in English-speaking countries. In their view, English language skills are a must in job hunting. Take Wuhan for example, there are more than 1,500 foreign language training centers. The boom of English language training plays a very important role in the development of English economy in Wuhan.
    I’m from Huanggang District, Hubei Province, where English economy is developing slowly. There are mainly two reasons. First, there are very few training centers there. People who wish to improve their English can hardly find satisfactory language schools. Secondly, good English teachers are very scarce in some newly-built English training schools. From the bottom of my heart, I hope things will be quite different in the near future.
The rapid development of English economy has not only brought forth a large number of famous English teachers but also contributed to China’s march toward internationalization. It has also enhanced China’s international status in English education.
