答案
In ancient Chinese, there goes a popular saying that the person who is content with what he has will always feels happy. However, nowadays many people hold the belief that people are never satisfied with what they have. They always want something more or something different. Between the two conflicting ideas, I prefer the latter one.
In my opinion, dissatisfaction is the very instinct of human beings, which inherently lies in man’s characters. We are hardly satisfied with what we have achieved. The reasons may be as follows: first, everyone struggles to achieve his goals, but as soon as you succeed, you’ll find that’s not enough. You want to do better or you want to reach a higher level. Second, men are inclined to compare with others and compete with each other. You will unconsciously compare what you have owned with others’ possessions. And usually, there is always someone who is luckier, richer or more beautiful than you, thus you will feel unfair and want to improve it. Finally, novel things are very attractive. It’s natural you have curiosity about new things. So although perhaps you’ ye already got what you want, but still you want to possess something novel and different.
In a word, pursuing new things and better life is man’s nature and in most cases it will promote our society to advance. So I agree the statement that men are never satisfied with what they have.
