答案     From the pie chart given above, we can have a clear look at the proportions of residents’ different consumptions during Spring Festival in a Chinese city. Obviously, making up 40%, the percentage of consumption taken by New Year’s present ranks first. At the same time, that of gatherings and traffic account for 20% respectively, ranking second.
    The pie chart conveys the fact that what occupies the largest percentage of the consumption is the cost of New Year’s present. Why? There are two reasons. First, as we all know, Chinese have been valuing politeness and ceremonies since ancient times. Thus it is a symbol of inheriting Chinese civilization and virtue of sending present mutually , especially during the traditional festivals. Besides, people in mounting numbers can afford the once-deemed-expensive gifts to convey their warmest wishes and sincerest greetings as a result of the improvement of financial status and corresponding purchasing power.
