Why Are University Graduates Having a Hard Time Finding Jobs?
About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after they graduated. But now, things are different. Nowadays, university students usually have much pressure in finding fairly good jobs, while many employers are complaining about the shortage of work hands.
There are some reasons leading to this problem. To begin with, university students don’t study as hard as when they are in middle school, so they are not equipped with enough knowledge, which is not fit for the requirement of the company. As a result of that, there are thousands of university graduates who wander about. They are all worried but they can do nothing but complain. What’s more, we often see that some graduates own much theoretical knowledge but lack experience. The companies they apply for are not sure whether they have got ability to be competent for the job. Those who can prove their ability will win the position more easily. So it is not enough to only possess knowledge. Finally, university graduates aim too high. Most of them want to have a good job with a high wage and a comfortable working condition, which is impractical.
In my opinion, university students should try their best to change the situation. When they are in school, they should make full use of their time and put their heart into their studies. More knowledge means more opportunities for better jobs and quicker promotion. Besides, when they graduate and apply for jobs, they should attach more importance to accumulating experience than to earning salary. I sincerely hope that the problem can be settled as soon as possible.
