Teenagers and Part-time Jobs
    In many countries it is common for high school teenagers to take part-time jobs, while in other countries that is virtually unimaginable. In those latter countries, students are expected to spend all their time on their studies and consider schoolwork their only "job". In my opinion, it is a good idea for students to take up part-time jobs because they will benefit a lot from a more balanced and integrated lifestyle including doing part-time jobs.
    While students’ primary task is, of course, to study and to do well at school, it should not be the only task. As the old saying goes, all work and no play makes John a dull boy. A life consisting of only study is not balanced and may cause the student to miss a lot of valuable things in life. In addition to balancing the life style of the students, part-time work can enrich his experience. He will have the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and face a wider range of problems. Furthermore, work helps students become independent both economically and mentally. Through doing part-time jobs, they can earn their pocket money and practice how to handle their income. Besides, part-time jobs can help students to develop a sense of responsibility for their own work and for that of the team they work in.
    For the above reasons, I firmly believe that teenagers would benefit from taking part-time jobs. Of course, they have to see to it that their part-time work doesn’t take up too much of their time because study is still their primary task.
