   Everyone needs friends. As part of a large group of friends, or as one half of "just the two of us," the time you spend with friends is an essential part of a satisfying life. There are benefits both to spending time with many friends at a time and to spending time one-on-one with a close friend.
   If you enjoy spending time with a large group of friends, it may be because it can give you the feeling of being part of something larger and more important than just a single individual. In good times, this can mean the more the merrier, many familiar faces around you, enjoying a day together. In bad times, there will be lots of helping hands around and many different opinions to help you solve your problem.
   If you enjoy spending time exclusively with your closest friends, it may be because you find it easier to make arrangements with one person instead of ten, and that your activities are more centered on what you want to do. One-on-one time is usually more intimate than time spent with a group, so conversations can be more in-depth and personal. Your friends know you so well, they can easily advise you on any situation.
   I prefer to spend my socializing time with one or two of my closest friends. I have found that when I am part of group, social obligations can become overwhelming. With my busy lifestyle, I need a more flexible schedule, where I can spend quiet time discussing my personal thoughts with my most trusted friends. It’s easy to fit in a close friend for an hour; we can talk about everything going on in our lives over a cup of coffee, and still have time to accomplish everything we need to in our own lives.
   People say that if you have one close friend in life, you are already very lucky. Some people find that special friend and feel satisfied just with them, while other people prefer a larger group setting. Whatever your preference, you should always value the time spent with friends.
